John McCain’s honesty problem

May 19th, 2008 by Erich Vieth

McCain’s honesty problem has been condensed into this short YouTube video by Robert Greenwald.

The mainstream media needs to focus on what McCain himself has claimed.   This is not character assassination, but forcing McCain to deal with his own statements.

McCain likes to portray himself as a straight-shooter, but he has flip-flopped on many, many issues. I hope more voters will examine his long record of political expediency.

According to this article at Daily Kos, the “Straight-Talk Express” derailed on the issue of John McCain’s medical records. Check out the restrictions imposed on the “ability to inspect” his records. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/5/22/122053/300/229/520477

Mark Green has documented that McCain has done the 180 on numerous critical issues:

If “flip-flopping” is a test, our Air America panel of Alter, Huffington and Reagan concludes that McCain certainly scores higher based on sheer frequency. For he’s probably done a 180 degree turn - or changed significantly - on tax cuts, offshore drilling, Social Security privatization, negotiating with Hamas, Roe v. Wade, the Religious Right, presidential public financing, rights for Gitmo detainees, and torture.
