I've sometimes heard the cliche "Quiet as a mouse," but we've had a couple mice in our house lately, and they aren't very quiet. Lots of scratching and gnawing. If you have mice, you often know it with your ears. I would suggest changing the phrase to "Quiet as a quiet mouse."
I never gave it much thought, but there is such a thing as a double-contraction in English. There are many of them.
My wife (an artist) posted Ursus Wehrli's TEDTalk on her Facebook page yesterday. She said, "This is great! My engineer hubby should appreciate this!" Well, he certainly does. I particularly liked Wehrli's takes on Jasper Johns and Jackson Pollack.

About five years ago, I watched in amazement as a young man ate a light bulb in front of a live audience at an art fair. It took him about five minutes, and it was one of the more bizarre things I had seen. And now, I see that it is possible to eat a light bulb in about 30 seconds. I can just imagine this record-holder's parents talking to him a few years ago: "Son, we understand that you would rather eat light bulbs than go to college. You have our blessing, as long as you strive to become the best possible light bulb eater."
