It makes the simple point that one should check the source when someone presents a “fact” such as “95% of Americans are scientifically illiterate” or “Jesus rose from the dead”.
That reminds me of “Passion of the Zombies“
I caught this video on youtube's main page a few days ago and I found it pretty inspiring to see this young girl coming to well-reasoned conclusions and proudly speaking her mind without anyone pushing her or forcing her to. She makes a great secondary point, too: she learned to question information by listening closely and realizing what made no sense; that science teacher she speaks of couldn't teach her critical thinking, and in fact presented a glaring lack of critical thinking himself. The school system can shove facts and formulas down the average student's throat pretty well, but no one seems truly capable of teaching another person to think.
