Edge.org is featuring a wonderful collection of maps, including this Flavor Network by Yong-Yeol_Ahn, a postdoctoral researcher for the Center for Complex Network Research at Northeastern University (click for a high res view that will allow you to explore). Or consider this map of the oldest words in our lexicon, by Mark Pagel, Professor of Evolutionary Biology at Reading University, England. Bicycle maps now available at Google

For those of us who travel by bicycle, Google has added a new feature to its map program. When seeking directions at Google Maps, you are now given the option of designating that you'll be traveling by bicycle (or as a pedestrian or using public transit). I tried it out a few times, designating routes with which I am familiar and the suggested bike routes made some good sense. Check it out.
