Three Woke Disconnects

This, from a powerful essay by Edie Wyatt at Quillette titled "My White Privilege Didn’t Save Me. But God Did."

The postmodern re-engineering of left-wing political theory has included the redefinition of “privilege” in a way that is separate from economics, a definition of “sex” that is separate from biology, and a definition of “violence” that does not involve actual violence. It’s a language and a narrative that completely abandons the working class, while erroneously taking for granted our loyalty.

Camille Paglia on the the Far Left (the Woke)

Click through to hear Camille Paglia's brutal, deserved and succinct take-down of the far Left. She, Peterson and many others who describe themselves as classical liberals (this includes me) are finding themselves homeless in light of the deep entrenchment of Wokeness in our meaning-making institutions:

Cute Owlet Photos at an Owl Cafe in Tokyo Japan

I'm aggravated that so many people keep getting such cheap attention by posting photos of puppies. Therefore, I'm posting photos of five owlets that Jen McKnight and I visited at an "Owl Cafe" in Tokyo a few years ago.

Take THAT, puppy-image-posters!

There were dozens of grown-up owls too . . .

Look at those eyes!  No, I'm talking about the owl's eyes!

About Joe Rogan

The excerpt below is from The New York Post I agree.  People who lean to the political left ought to check out a few episodes of Joe Rogan's podcast for themselves, rather than allowing others to scare them away.  They might find that they enjoy looking straight at issues without being pushed or pulled by any political narratives. They might enjoy wide-open conversation.

[A] progressive antipathy towards Rogan is reaching new heights of hysteria — not because the 53-year-old podcaster is some kind of dogmatic, Trump-supporting conservative. Far from it. Rather, he is a progressive-minded thinker supportive of LGBT rights, a woman’s right to choose, and drug legalization who also consistently challenges the orthodoxies of the left, such as the more concerning dogmas of trans advocacy, the excesses of the #MeToo movement, and the popular conflation of Trump’s most egregious characteristics with the millions of Americans who voted for him.

. . .

Rogan is a fundamentally critical thinker who formulates his views on a case-by-case basis rather than adhering to ideological narratives . . . For those heavily invested in political narratives, Rogan’s platform presents a mortal threat — a grave transgression to their narrow-minded thought bubbles and ideological safe spaces. Unlike many ideologues, Rogan daringly humanizes perspectives that deviate from his own. “I like being proven wrong,” he said in a recent episode.
