California School District Teaches Sex Confusion to Students and Hides it from Parents

In these videos, seven concerned parents and a former student step up to the microphone to express their concerns about gender ideology at Davis Joint Unified School District in California. In the past couple weeks, I have viewed similar parent/school-board videos from about five other public school districts. My prediction is that in 2023 we will be seeing dozens of lawsuits filed by parents against schools based on gender ideology.

I have first-hand knowledge of two concerned parents indicating that their kids' schools tell students that they might have been born in the wrong body, and where teachers and counselors hide from parents that children are being called a new name at school unbeknownst to parents and hidden from the official school records. I don't know how often this kind of thing is going on, but it is happening in more than a few districts. I share the parents' outrage that a school would engage in this behavior and/or hide this type of information from parents. Note that the first speaker at this link, Erin Friday, identifies herself as a democrat and a licensed attorney. There are enormous numbers of people who consider themselves liberal (I am one of them) who are aghast at what some of these schools are doing to students and parents.

Conscious Strategies to Shut Down the Center-Left and Center Right

Jonathan Chait, writing at N.Y. Mag: "Helping Trans Kids Means Admitting What We Don’t Know

There is a familiar pattern here in the way left-wing activists shut down internal criticism by treating any criticism of their position as either identical to, or complicit with, the far right. Extremists on the right, of course, use the same method to shut down their critics on the center-right. To the radical, the easiest way to win a debate is to insist that the only choice is between opposing poles. If you oppose any element of their argument, you have endorsed the enemy. If the criticism is tempered and credible, this only makes them regard it as more dangerous.

But this absolutist mind-set has had an especially pernicious effect on the issue of youth gender medicine. This is because the science is genuinely murky and embryonic, making the struggle to identify a humane and effective solution both difficult and necessary. The left has thrown itself behind a crusade to define such a position out of existence....

Progressive activists have not just embraced the gender-affirming care model; they have begun treating any disagreement with it as hateful denial that trans people exist. Indeed, they have frequently denied that any debate exists within the medical community at all.

The purpose of their rhetorical strategy is to conflate advocates of more cautious treatment of trans children with conservatives who oppose any treatment for trans children. This campaign has met with a great deal of success. Much of the coverage in mainstream and liberal media has followed this template — ignoring or denying the existence of the medical debate, and presenting anti-trans Republican politicians as the only alternative to gender-affirming care. This has been the theme not only of progressive infotainment like Jon Stewart and John Oliver, but also mainstream organs like Politico and CNN, where coverage of the issue often treats progressive activists as unbiased authorities and dismisses all questions about youth gender treatment as hate-driven denial of the medical consensus.

Colin Wright: Sex is Binary

I've often referred to the work of Biologist Colin Wright. In this 5 minute video, Colin explains why biological sex is real, immutable, and binary.  To his explanation, I would add this: There is no third sex that has a third type of gamete.  To the extent that anyone claims there is a third sex that has a third type of gamete, please explain how that third type of gamete leads to the creation of offspring.

The Return of Transexual

Billboard Chris recommends that we give up on the word "gender." I agree. At its worst, it is an invitation to engage in old and reprehensible stereotypes (because girls who like to play with trucks are 100% girls). At its best, it is a meaningless word. At one point it was a polite way to avoid saying "sex."

By returning to "transexual," we recognize that there are only two sexes and that a person of one sex is presenting as the other. It is not a pejorative. It is recognizing some basic fact. Everyone out there, including people with sexual dysphoria who present themselves as the opposite sex, deserve kindness, respect and full legal rights as a person. Therefore, using "transexual" is truly not an insult. The benefit of using "transexual" is that we are recognizing basic biology and avoiding massive confusion associated with gender ideology. What confusion, you might ask?  How about this chart published by (believe it or not) Scientific American.

Two years ago I was scolded and told it was impolite, but I now disagree. I'm imagining the conversation when I start using transexual again. It will probably come down to a discussion (probably an argument) about who has the final say over how we use words. I'll see how it goes.
