I've recently discovered a new comedian and I would like to share. He's an Australian, Mr. Tim Minchin. I forget now where I stumbled upon him, but he is a delight. For one he's a musician/composer, and, as a keyboard player myself, I have to admit to being envious of his chops. But his comedy...ah, this is something special. I urge everyone to go to YouTube and see all of the videos. He is a skeptic. This video gives a fair example.
There's a straightforward reason we "expelled ourselves from Eden." At heart, we are searchers and explorers, and we seek meaning, among many other things. "CallumCGLP" is the self-identified person who added these beautiful excerpts from Carl Sagan's audio-book, Pale Blue Dot to some new visuals. The result is inspiring:
Animusic has been creating some incredibly sophisticated music animations for years. The work is difficult to describe, though when you see an Animusic creation you'll know it was by Animusic. At this Animusic page you can get a sampling of eight creations. My favorite is "Pogo Sticks," but they are all mesmerizing.
Character is forged by failure. There are thousands of examples, and here are a few of them: A worthy segue is the advice of psychologist Carol Dweck: Praise hard work, not intelligence, because doing the latter makes students unwilling to take chances that risk failure.
This is a terrific journey. You get to travel from the Earth to the edge of the known universe and back, all in six minutes. It's a beautiful collection of graphics, along with a space-appropriate sound track. Bravo to the American Museum of Natural History.
