Andrew Sullivan puts a bright spotlight on Chris Wallace, who pretended to interview Dick Cheney. I agree with Sullivan that this is not journalism at all. It should get Wallace fired immediately. Except, perhaps, if those who employ Wallace like it when Wallace merely pretends to interview controversial public figures.
Visit Sullivan’s post at the Daily Dish and be amazed and appalled.
Oh my sweet Georgia Brown–that was just appalling.
Chris Wallace deserves to have his ass handed to him by Jon Stewart. And then be laughed out of the press room.
Is it the search for ever-precious exclusivity that leads to this kind of pandering? Surely this journalist's behavior is disgusting, but does it not reflect a systemic problem? Cheney would not grant an interview to an unfriendly questioner. Is there ever a point at which softball questioning is justifiable, in the sense that something (ie, a bad interview) is better than nothing?
I suppose when something becomes propaganda packaged as coverage, it really is worse than nothing.
I saw part of it. It was so obviously scripted and rehearsed that it looked like a Keven Trudeau infomercial with different actors.
The questions seem somehow different from the ones he asked of Bill Clinton not all that long ago, I think. Hmmm.
Cheney- "I'm a war criminal and I'm proud of it!"
Wallace- "Do you think President Obama is endangering America by not being a war criminal, too?"
Cheney- "President Obama is a quisling quiche eating, argula knoshing pantywaist! America needs more war criminals like me!"
Wallace- "Thank you sir, and thank you for your service to your country!"
Ooops, Wallace forgot the five draft deferments because Cheney "had better things to do!" like committing war crimes!
Thank you, Dick Cheney, for saving the United States of America. But seriously, folks….
It sure is fun watching poor old Dick Cheney stumbling all over the right wing airwaves, desperately trying to poison the jury pool and dodge a VERY long stretch in a federal prison. I only saw clips of his “interview” with Chris Wallace on FOX Noise on Sunday. Someone described it as a starry-eyed teenage girl interviewing one of the Jonas brothers.
It sure is funny observing the meltdown of Dick and Liz (Cheney – not Burton and Taylor). The trillion dollar hammer is about to hit the fan. They’re like cornered rats. Oh, man! I’m lovin’ this!
Don’t take your eye off the Cheneys. For your best entertainment bargain, these two are the show that should not be missed. We’re talking essential viewing here!

I read recently that Cheney is considering a bid for the potus position in 2012. He is already working hard to encourage sabotaging all progressive efforts by the Obama administration.
If he gets in office (probably by the same election fraud that gave us 8 years of G-Dub) will we see "special rendition" instituted as S.O.P. for congressional hearing?
Yep Cheney's a REAL Dick!
David Letterman has now jumped in and criticized Chris Wallace for his fake journalism. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/02/letterma…
