Jesse Ventura appeared on The View and spoke plain truth about torture, i.e., waterboarding is torture.
If you can bear it, listen to Elisabeth Hasselbeck chattering away in support of torture (even though she claims that she is against torture). Ventura won’t put up with Hasselbeck’s inanity, and puts the blame squarely where it belongs, given that U.S. torture hasn’t exactly been a recent revelation to anyone who gave a crap about it.
FOX has it all figured out that Jesse Ventura is anti-American because he refuses to torture. Here's the story.
You know, when people as hard-assed as the Israelis say "Oh, we stopped doing that years ago because we discovered that it doesn't work" you have to ask how come "we" decided to employ these methods.
There is only one answer—we wanted to look like a bunch of bad asses to the rest of the world. Toughest bastard on the block. The Jack Bauer method—scream loud and cut off a finger and the bad guys will cower into their hidey-holes.
After 9/11, there was rage and natural desire to hit back. We flailed around like an injured child. But by 2003 and 2004, cooler minds should have prevailed, and this nonsense should never have happened. It was kept secret, certainly, but the intelligence community is a kind of fraternity, and I'm sure everyone knew what was going on, from the Kremlin to Tel Aviv to Beijing.
It has been observed by others that W was a cowboy. Now we know what that means. He thought being the quickest draw, the one willing to shoot first, and the least tolerant was a winning formula. He embarrassed us before the world.
And defending this stuff can only be the mind-numbing fecklessness of his supporters who can't believe that we finally got Our Man in the oval office and he was a disaster. Has to be someone else's fault. He couldn't have been so stupid or blind or clueless.
Well, perhaps it is partially someone else's fault—-the Hannitys, the Limbaughs, the boneheaded sycophants who kept telling him what to be that they might worship him.
I'm reminded of Milton's castigation of the powers that be of his day: "Blind mouths!"
