Obama tries to steal some of Edward Snowden’s limelight
Interesting politics at the moment regarding Snowden. This writer at the conservative National Review says:
“The United States should give former NSA contractor Edward Snowden immunity from prosecution in exchange for congressional testimony.”
Lots of conservatives disagree with Obama on Snowden.
But this makes me wonder what would have happened had Snowden blown the NSA story open while Mitt Romney was president. I assume that 3/4 of the Republicans who currently support Snowden wouldn’t have, and I assume that 3/4 of the Democrats who currently support Obama on Snowden would be condemning President Romney for failing to declare Snowden to be a patriotic whistle blower.
In short, I see the current political dynamics as mostly largely unprincipled tribal rantings.
