Republican firecrackers

From Huffpo:

Children who attend July 4 celebrations are more likely to identify themselves as Republicans later in life, a new Harvard University study finds. [T]here is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans,” they write.

We go to see the fireworks and watch them blow off in the night skies. Oooooh! Aaaaaah!

I told my kids moments after they were born; "Hi, I'm your daddy! Vote straight Democratic! And, 'The Who' is the greatest Rock 'n' Roll band ever!"

In the Barretts Elementary School mock election Ben voted for McCain because he feared an Obama tax increase and thought mommy would have less money to buy him mac 'n' cheese. I told Ben what he believed was up to him and that I was proud of his logic. Ben is now a metal head, thinks The Who is passe'.

Bella went with me to see President Clinton for Obama, voted for Obama. I told her to repect her brother's point of view and that what she believed was up to her and I was proud she got involved. Bella says "The Who" and "Yes" hurt her ears. Oh, woe is me, I have no daughter! Who is "Pink?"

    I supported Obama, duh!

I don't ask my wife who she votes for, it annoys her. I try not to go out of my way to annoy my wife as there are times it appears my mere existence is annoying to her.
