Did you ever see Stephen Colbert totally unnerved?

Jane Fonda succeeded, using some rather unusual techniques.   I’ve really enjoyed watching Colbert toy with his guests, but I’ve never before seen him fall so far out of character.

BTW – It appears that Colbert’s videos have been removed from sites like YouTube.   Many of them are available at Colbert on Demand.

He does indeed look very very cute and I also wouldn't mind sitting on his lap and playing a bit Jane Fonda (although I don't really like that kind of women) if he was a bit younger. 😀

What if the roles had been reversed? How likely would it be for a male guest on a woman's talk show to get away with what Fonda did?

If the female host had previously made known her fantasies about her male guest on national television, why not?

I seriously doubt that a woman would let a guy sit on her lap and kiss her. 😀

He obviously did feel attracted to her and she knew it, otherwise she wouldn't have done this as the risk to face the humiliation of a rejection on tv would have been too great. She was amusing herself and stroking her ego at the cost of his wife. Usually this works, because the guy is somewhat insecure deep down and craves for the admiration of an attractive woman. Even if a man is attractive it's not that easy for him to have sex as it is for an attractive woman, so he'll be grateful for anything that is free. 😀

You guys don't know any actors personally, do you? The character of Colbert slipped a bit when the character of Fonda (as opposed to the private person) challenged him.

It looked like a little game of stay-in-character chicken, to me.

I love it when Colbert breaks. You can see him fight to keep his composure, but you know when he does it that he's really enjoying himself. That's part of his charm. Other guests have been able to get him to break, but not so thoroughly as Jane did.
