Snow falling at midnight

Snow is falling in St. Louis at midnight. This is one of my favorite times. Everything becomes exceedingly quiet and beautiful in a new way. It’s almost like you are on a movie set, because it seems a little too perfect. I ran outside with my camera on a tripod and took this shot looking west from the median in front of my house.

I remember late night walks near my boyhood home as it snowed. There was an almost comforting sound as the snow fell, especially as I watched the rainbows created as the flakes slid past the old style streetlamps in my neighborhood.

As the weather turned, I remember following a specific route so as to hear certain early rising birds as I walked. One mockingbird and I frequently conversed on these walks. Now, the mockingbird in my plum tree in the backyard reminds me of the constancy of the songs of nature and of home.

I hadn't thought about those walks for some time, Erich. Thanks for the jump-start!
