Kuhnian paradigm shift on display here. [1] These days, we almost never see a nuanced give and take where the parties admit their doubts and confidence levels in real time as their understanding shifts. I suspect tribalism is the cause but I have no idea regarding a solution for the problem that we can’t civilly discuss ideas with people with whom we disagree.
