Here’s news that is not really a shocker: [1] Only 26% of Catholics understand and believe in the transubstantiation. [2] This is the equivalent of claiming that only 26% of United States citizens believe that there are three branches of government.
It’s pretty amazing to see such rampant ignorance, especially in the a context that is supposedly a matter of eternal life versus eternal damnation.
BTW, those who truly believe in the transubstantiation should not take Communion on Good Friday, [3] because it is the same thing as eating meat.
