While on a recent trip to New York, I had the chance to visit the Roosevelt Rotunda [1] of the American Museum of Natural History [2] in New York. This Barosaurus [3]exhibit is purportedly the world’s tallest freestanding mount of a dinosaur. It is not known whether this animal could have actually reared up like this (to protect the baby barosaurus only partially seen), but this pose does display the immense size of the animal, which lived approximately 150 million years ago. If you click the links above, you’ll see stories about the extremely small head (an authentic head has probably not yet been found) as well as discussion of how blood could have been pumped all the way up there by dinosaur heart.
This photo was stitched together from two separate photos, using my Canon SD1100IS and the software Canon provided with this camera.
