Andrew Sullivan is saying it like it is [1] and he is thus getting pummeled by many conservatives. But the conservative press nonetheless refuses to acknowledge and discuss Sarah Palin’s lies:
[N]o one at the Corner has the intellectual honesty to discuss the lies that the McCain camp has been putting out: specifically the lie that Obama funded sex education for kindergartners, the lie that Sarah Palin initially opposed the Bridge To Nowhere, the lie that she never requested earmarks for Alaska as governor, the lie that Palin visited the battlefield in Iraq, the lie that she didn’t use her public office to persecute a former relative, and on and on. You will read nothing about these glaring lies in the public record at National Review. But you will learn that I am insane.
Palin is simply asking the responsible media to take her out at the knees. Here’s her latest lie on the bridge to nowhere [2]. And here’s the latest lie on America’s energy crisis–she disavows that there is an energy crisis and claims that Alaska will come to America’s rescue [2]. Pure garbage. She claims to be an energy expert [3] but on the topic of energy she seems to know no more than a random person found in a pub.
As I’ve posted before, EIA [4]estimates that about 10.4 billion barrels of oil can be recovered from ANWR, just over a year of American consumption. Saudi Arabia alone has about 260 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. Here’s that story. [5]

There is more concern about Palin piling up by the minute. I think she’s peaked and she’s about to become a laughing stock (along with McCain). The corporate media is quite willing to play along and pretend it doesn’t know many things, but everyone, even the media, hates arrogant hypocrisy. The atmosphere is one of ravenous competition now. Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered–even hogs with lipstick. The media are actually competing with each other to break new stories about Palin’s disturbing actions as a government official. Many news reporters are now refusing to serve as stenographers for the RNC.
And just because we’ve moved on to Palin’s deficits as a government official, don’t think anyone has forgotten how out-of-control her family is. The stories are cropping up everywhere (for instance, here [7]). And don’t forget that there is a LOT we don’t yet know about Todd, Sarah’s husband, who seems to have run amok in Alaskan politics.
Hey, lady. Don’t you dare preach to me that you will dictate how I should run my life when your own family has been desperately cleaned up only for the cameras, when you are afraid to talk candidly to the media and when your credibility is zilch.
We don’t need you, Sarah Palin. We already have a massively dysfunctional White House.

Stop voting for people you want to have a beer with. Stop voting for folksy. Stop voting for people who remind you of your neighbor. Stop voting for the ideologically intransigent, the staggeringly ignorant, and the blazingly incompetent.
Vote for someone smarter than you. Vote for someone who inspires you. Vote for someone who has not only traveled the world but who has also shown a deep understanding and compassion for it. The stakes are real and they’re terrifyingly high. This election matters. It matters. It really matters. Let me say that one more time. This. Really. Matters.
