This video is quite effective. I wonder, though, what young women with anorexia think of it. After all (as the video makes clear), they have warped views regarding their own bodies. Maybe they would think that this video only applies to other women.

Projekleiterin: I agree with you completely regarding Karen Carpenter. She had an incredibly beautiful voice and apparently worked endless hours to get the sound exactly how she wanted it. Reading some websites about her last month, there is yet another tragedy regarding her. Though she made her fame and fortune based on her popular recordings, her music interests were apparently in other genres which she never had a chance to adequately explore.

The media have such a bad influence on women. It still surprises me when I hear people say how great Nicole Richie and other skinny actresses look. Scary how the media are able to brainwash people...

Have you ever read about the pro-ana movement?

ana refers to the promotion or support of anorexia nervosa as a lifestyle choice rather than an eating disorder. It is often referred to simply as "ana" and is sometimes affectionately personified by anorexics as a girl named Ana.

Members of these support groups often:

    * Compete with each other at losing weight, or fast together in displays of solidarity

    * Commiserate with one another after breaking fast or binging

    * Advise on how to best induce vomiting and use laxatives

    * Give tips on hiding weight loss from parents and doctors

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro-ana

Karen Carpenter of The Carpenters died of anorexia. I just recently made a post and included a video of one her songs here together with another song, Perfect 10 by The Beautiful South, both are fabulous songs.
