Even as a kid I wondered about "Toast, juice, eggs, milk, and (cereal brand) makes a complete breakfast." What, I mused, would be missing if they left out the vaunted packaged product?

Something I've noticed that is common to the cereal ads and the cholesterol drug ads is a little phrase "with diet and exercise".
I formerly had high cholesterol and reduced through dietary changes after experiencing too many dangerous side effect from the medications.
In a warped sort of way it makes sense that the FDA would seek to control foods that might be dangerous to the profits of the companies that are represented by the industry consultants to the FDA.

Forbes has just published an article on healthy foods. They have something interesting in common. They include nuts, berries, beans, raw milk, grass-fed meat. Whole, real, unprocessed food is almost always healthy, regardless of how many grams of carbs, protein or fat it contains. All these healthy foods have in common the fact that they lack bar codes.

Here's the full article.
