Barosaurus towers over Manhattan
While on a recent trip to New York, I had the chance to visit the Roosevelt Rotunda of the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This Barosaurus exhibit is purportedly the world’s tallest freestanding mount of a dinosaur. It is not known whether this animal could have actually reared up like this (to protect the baby barosaurus only partially seen), but this pose does display the immense size of the animal, which lived approximately 150 million years ago. That’s an astounding picture. It’s a real shame we don’t have any living ones left to see what that would look like in the flesh!
Such a wonderful animal. Although I prefer the predators of that era, the herbivores never really cease to amaze me with their size or variety.
