Several weeks ago, Paulson gave an interview in which he said he believed the U.S. would avoid a serious financial crisis (!); then, in an interview this week, Paulson gave no clear answer to how he planned to steer his way out of this mess. He did, however, repeatedly go out of his way to lavish praise on George Bush -- one of the worst examples of ass-kissing I've seen in a long time, even from a Bush administration insider. Paulson appears to be just one more example of how Bush surrounds himself with people who are as blindly loyal as they are inept.
