This blog brought to you by Moveon.org.

You got your Obama, count yourself as another Catholic who sold out, or simply got drunk on the Obama Kool-Aid. In just two months he's made science and ethics mutually exclusive....

We won't even get into the corporatism that Barry is engaging in, he makes Bush look like a piker (Obama got 65% of Wall Streets money during the campaign). Wake up.

Whew, Catholics do not know anything about the word of God at all. Learn some Hebrew because it helps to understand what it says. You shall not murder. murder is taking an INNOCENT life, duh.

I don't see anything in God's word about voting for some punk who wants to rule the world. LOL

So don't vote until you understand something. Start studying.

Some people were killed in the 9/11 attack. 3,000 or so. We sent troops to wipe out the terrorists. How many innocent citizens of the USA have been wiped out by Roe Vs. Wade? Over 55,000,000.
The most dangerous place to be for a citizen of the USA is in the mothers' wombs.
Our country is being judged because of the waste of human life. These murders take place daily in the USA. God is not pleased.

Andy,

If you can't be dissuaded from viewing a fetus as anything other than fully human, fine. In that case, abortion is justifiable homicide.

If you agree that a woman has a right to not be pregnant, it is ridiculous to take that right away simply because she becomes pregnant.

As well, I am disinclined to accept the opinion of a line of men who are by virtue of their vows both celibate and never allowed to be in the position of having to be responsible for the raising of a child as a parent. I am disinclined to grant males much say in the matter to begin with because this is not something males will ever have to face (at least in the overwhelming majority) i.e. pregnancy.

"If men could become pregnant, abortion would be a sacrement." Gloria Steinem.

"John McCain is Pro-death, not Pro-Life!" I didn't say it, EWTN and the CNS did!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YTFJPir9BM

McCain does not support the GOP plank on abortion, which makes him contrary to Church teaching.

McCain voted twice for expaniding funding for ESCR, and against a US Constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman, both contrary to Church teaching.

McCain is wrong on 3 out of 5 of the Church's "non-negotiable issues."

McCain also voted to allow the CIA to torture, which the Church says is intrinsically evil.

The GOP apologists which want to claim a vote for Obama is wrong, or a mortal sin or any such other such drivel are either completely ignorant of McCain's positions or knowingly supporting a candidate, John McCain, who supports intrinsically evil acts.

Are you Catholics who support McCain uniformed or do you need to see your confessor?

On the balance, voting for Obama is less an evil to Church teaching than a vote for McCain.

Hi Tim,
I just by chance ran across your article about how you are a proud Catholic that is voting for Obama?
I sure hope your parish priest has news of this and has had the chance to right you back into the fold.
You should not be encouraging Catholics to vote for Obama. I hope you have taken the time to listen to how Anti-Life Obama is......Please listen to his soundbytes on Youtube.com You can search Obama and abortion, and partial birth obortion and Obama, etc......

The 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion was similar to the 1857 Dred Scott vs. Sanford decision that returned a free black man to slavery. The Dred Scott decision said "Negroes.....have never been regarded as......citizens" while Roe stated that "the unborn have never been recognized in the law as persons...."

And I hope you have joined your parishioners to pray that the Pro-Life candidate is elected, not the candidate who says the first thing he would do as President would be to pass the FOCA. He is an adamant supporter of Choice......Choosing what..............................................What are you choosing if you choose abortion?................................................................? Choosing the murder of an innocent human being.........

Have you been praying about your vote?

How is it possible to speak of the dignity of every human person when the killing of the weakest and most innocent is permitted?

"When this happens, the process of leading to the breakdown of a genuinely human coexistence and the disintegration of the state itself has already begun. To claim the right to abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia, and to recognize that right to law, means to attribute human freedom a perverse and evil significance, that of an absolute power over others and against others. This is the death of true freedom." _Pope John Paul II
In other words, no "common good" can co-exist with legal abortion. The very foundations of civilization break down. It sure sounds like abortion is more than just one issue among many.

You can't be catholic and vote in favor of Obama. You are corroboratting with the evil of abortion........You can't have liberty and the pursuit of happiness without first upholding the right to life.

If you vote for Obama.....you are permitting and condoning the murder of approximately 3014 babies today! And tomorrow 3014 babies too! And the next day, 3014 babies and the next day 3014 murders and so on and so on. Is that in conformity with Church teaching and "Catholic views".

Do you really have a clear conscience? ??????

Check out these scripture verses:
Isaiah 44:2a "Thus says the Lord who made you, your help, who formed you from the womb:"

Deuteronomy 30:19
"I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live."

God knows the preborn child.........
Psalm 139:13,15
"You knit me in my mother’s womb . . . nor was my frame unknown to you when I was made in secret".
Psalm 22:10-11
God also helps and calls the preborn child. "You have been my guide since I was first formed . . . from my mother’s womb you are my God".
St. Paul to the Galatians 1:15
"God… from my mother’s womb had set me apart and called me through his grace".

Luke 1:41-45
"When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

Do you think God is going to continue to bless our country if we willingly support government that allows the murder of innocent human beings?

This is the preeminent issue Tim.....As one Catholic to another Catholic......I hope by the Grace of God you will change your mind come time to cast your vote.

God bless you and guide you.

Andy writes: " It is murder in it’s most heinous form."

Please consider:
http://dangerousintersection.org/?p=107/ and
http://dangerousintersection.org/?p=912/.

Andy continues: "Those who vote for Obama...will have a small responsibility in every death that results from abortions that Obama makes legal."

And those who voted for Bush have a small responsibility in every death in Iraq caused by Bush's invasion, as well as in every death in America caused by Bush's opposition to domestic social programs -- things such as adequate healthcare coverage for the poor; federally funded stem cell research; enforcement of environmental protection laws; adequate funding of research on cancer, AIDS, drug-resistant influenza, etc.

You can't be pro-choice and a practicing Catholic. The protection on innocent life is in the doctrines of the church, and All of the popes have called abortion intrinsically evil. That means that it is never good any shape or form. It is murder in it's most heinous form. Those who vote for Obama, knowing that he is pro-choice, and that he even supports partial-birth abortion, will have a small responsibility in every death that results from abortions that Obama makes legal.

The argument is good and well worded. Plus it is made in a civil manner. It reminds me of the courtly manner that good men like John Calhoun of South Carolina in another time. They too argued passionately and with much sophistication that while slavery was evil, it should be left up to the conscience of the slave owner to do as he saw fit: after all, there was no universal consensus that the slave was 'human', just like there is no such consensus today that the unborn child is 'human'.
