Who rioted in 1968? There was a bunch of unruly, unwashed, radical youth, but twice as many armed security forces, including the National Guard. The official report on Chicago '68 described it as a "police riot." Dan Rather was punched on the convention floor by security guards. Reporters taking notes when police charged a crowd of onlookers were beaten and their notes confiscated. A British Member of Parliament ( a middle-aged woman) who was watching from across the street was beaten also, and testified at the trial of the Chicago 8. Ya didn't get a quote-mineable sound bite. But the context gives your message, anyway.
