News Flash: Obama Not the Antichrist

August 17th, 2008 by Vicki Baker

Apparently, one of John McCain’s campaign ads has left some viewers confused as to whether or not Barack Obama is the Antichrist. Fortunately, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, creators of the Left Behind series, have weighed in on the subject. Due to their success in re-inventing the Biblical apocalypse as mass media spectacle, LaHaye and Jenkins are uniquely qualified to comment on the current political scene. Thus we can take their pronouncement that the Antichrist will most likely not be an American politician as the definitive word on the subject:

“I can see by the language he uses why people think he could be the antichrist,” adds LaHaye, “but from my reading of scripture, he doesn’t meet the criteria. There is no indication in the Bible that the antichrist will be an American.”

In other news, the director of Godzilla issued a statement that John McCain is “probably not” a giant mutant lizard.
