Erich, maybe you should clarify in the post that it's a spoof? People who just read the post and not the comments will not understand that the information is wrong. By the way, my trust in you is now completely shattered. :D

The catch is that different brands of lantern batteries use different sizes of cells. I have seen some that had 8 sub-c cells, and others with 4 cells that were the diameter of a sub-c cell but twice as long.

And a link from the Snopes link provided by the other Dan gets us to one of my favorite sites, www.TheodoreGray.com

I've lost many hours reading about his scrounging and hacking experiences. His methods of getting Uranium are illuminating.

There is a rising amount of convincing counterknowledge on video sites. HouseholdHacker is one source on YouTube He offers tips like getting 6 AAA batteries from a 9v, then using one of them to power your TV via a mangled RCA cable. If you read the comments, you see that most people don't seem to notice that these videos are blindingly obvious pseudo-advice. Well, obvious to anyone who has an idea of how electricity works.

In the case of this "GagFilms" 6v battery video, notice how the 36 AA batteries are not interconnected in any way as he pours them out? The gullible may well find themselves covered with caustic goo. Yet the producers of these dangerous videos can legally claim that it was obviously a gag.

But how long do these batteries last? A batterie is not the same as a batterie.
