Maybe this is what it is...that McCain knows how grueling the campaign trail is for both the candidates and the press and wanted to have at least one day where they can all hang out and put aside "business" at least for one day? Can you blame them for accepting the offer to just hang out and enjoy themselves and let the campaign rest for one day? McCain is simply not stupid enough to think that one nice day of bbq'ing for the press would honestly make all the media back off from any negative stories that come up during the campaign.
