Nude photography on a grand scale.

January 25th, 2008 by Erich Vieth

Click here for a slide show of the works of Spencer Tunick.   Incredibly ambitious, delightful, fun, thoughtful.  Certainly something you don’t see every day.

And how interesting that so many people are so willing to sign up to participate.  What does that say?

That a lot of people harbor a clandestine exhibitionist deep down inside? :D

Seeing so many naked people doesn’t really thrill me…

It may be there there is a secret exhibitionist streak running in many people, as proj says, but that it is only in the anonymity of large numbers that most would feel safe exploring it. Because when everyone’s nude…no one’s naked.

Some Swedish feminists started a campaign to fight for their right to go topless.

“We want our breasts to be as normal and desexualised as men’s, so that we too can pull off our shirts at football matches,” said a spokeswoman for the group.

A longer article can be found here. And it seems they have been successful.

Of course I was curious what a more informed feminist would think, because my first reaction was, “No way, they’re nuts,” and started polling a feminist group (just including the link for the sake of completeness of information, but you probably won’t be able to enter as the website is in beta phase and there’s a waiting list for new members). The majority of them was in favor of the campaign, but most would not go topless, because although they were aware that it was socially conditioned they made the decision to accept it.

I found that interesting. I would not feel comfortable going topless, even less being completely naked. I wonder if this is social conditioning or if the others do have an exhibitionist streak.
