About the Author
Erich Vieth is an iconoclastic attorney, musician and writer living in the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. He and his wife Anne Jay have two daughters, aged 9 and 11.
True story: I was roaming around Manhattan some years ago and footsore, I stopped to rest on a low wall at the edge of the sidewalk. Among the many pedestrians walking past was a dirty, unkempt man. He was quite remarkable, because every other step he kicked himself in the backside. Very limber, that. He never said a word, and continued down the sidewalk still kicking himself until he was out of sight.
Sometimes I feel like kicking myself, but I usually mean that metaphorically.
