The roman Emperor Caligula, who developed mental illness after a fever, decreed himself to be a god. Various dictators through history have claimed divinity. They were all certifiably nuts.

When someone writes the delusional rantings of nut jobs down, combines those rantings with transcriptions of oral histories, mythologies and philosophy, sticks it on a shelf for a few centuries before translating it into several languages, revising and editing it to support contemporary politics, the rantings become true wisdom.

Each person using their brain and inner voice 100% of the time, listening to it wisely.

Each person knows how they do that (aside from mentally ill)

The rest, the religions, the colors, the science, the races, the nations and borders, are all setups to confuse and test you on that one basis.

That is the best I can describe my sum of learnings in 3 decades of life on earth, having been through multiple religions and continents.

Do you listen to a book whose origins could be questionable and murder people for whatever excuse the book condemns them with?

Or

Do you have an inner voice that warns against that and you follow that? A 6th sense perhaps? A gut voice maybe?

Because in one case, you are a drone, not a free human being. You might as well not be free. For it is so easy to believe and say, 1. he is god, 2. this is god’s word, 3. I’ll have to do it regardless of anything and everything. that my friend, reaches its apex in suicide bombing.

There you go, that’s one religion against the other, and the last religion in the world, islam, claims to be from the same god that sent jesus down here… yet, it professes and glorifies dying in martyrdom to kill the infidels and occupiers and imperialists or whatever “label” they can find to call bad… including gays

I believe that in the end, you can only do the wrong or the right based on not listening or listening to your inner voice ONLY.

For that is the God within the temple of each human being. The Conscious. The One.

But an observation about the whole “choice” issue, at least with regards to religious homophobes. I think you do not go far enough. At base, they are raised to regard ALL of human nature as essentially evil, something which must be continually fought and resisted in order to lead an “exemplary” life. As such, homosexuality is the functional equivalent of any aspect of religiously unmodified living that embraces “natural” proclivities over the self-discipline of denial. Consequently, homophobia is just the most visible aspect of a doctrine of self-loathing that encompasses most of what we might reasonably regard as Being Human.
